Outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV 1)
An outbreak of EHV 1 (which can cause abortion, respiratory disease and paralysis) has occurred in Gloucestershire. As a precaution anyone who has hunted with the Heythrop since 24 January should put their horse and yard into quarantine for a minimum of 10 days.

Hi vis products withdrawn
In response to police guidelines V-Bandz has withdrawn all chequered, high visibility products from sale. This follows concern that riders wearing the products could be mistaken for police officers. Products can be returned to V-Banz for amendment.

Household Cavalry to perform at Betfair Lambourn Open Day
The Betfair Lambourn Open Day on Good Friday (29th March) will include the Household Cavalry's Musical Ride, as well as giving visitors the chance to explore behind the scenes of some of the top racing establishments in the UK. Money raised by the Open Day will go to local charities.

Ben Maher wins Grand Prix at Palm Beach
Ben Maher, riding Jane Clark's grey mare Cella, won the $100,000 CSI 2* Grand Prix at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, ahead of Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) and 3rd place Gemma Paternoster (GBR). Ben recently started riding Jane Clark's horses and has been travelling to the US regularly to get to know them.

Colic research on gut cells
Researchers at North Carolina State University are examining how infectious disease and inflammation impact cells in the horse's gut. A better understanding of colic at a cellular level will help to improve the management and treatment of colic.
